Central Quad

Overview

The Central Quad is vibrant university teaching heart of TU Dublin’s Grangegorman campus, uniting ten schools from the Colleges of Sciences & Health, Engineering & Built Environment, and Arts & Tourism. Positioned between the Greenway Hub and the Academic Hub & Library, it is a state-of-the-art facility designed to promote collaboration, innovation, and efficient use of resources.

The building offers a mix of general teaching spaces and specialised facilities. These include multi-purpose lecture halls used across various disciplines, wet and dry laboratories supporting practical work in science and health, and computer labs ranging from standard to advanced setups tailored for computing studies. It also houses electronic design and communication studios for engineering disciplines, as well as fully equipped culinary arts facilities, including teaching and demonstration kitchens, prep areas, storage rooms, teaching restaurants, and a function room.

A noteable feature of the Central Quad is  that the the central atrium features an art piece by Alexandra Carr, Solaris Nexum,  which is a five‑storey kinetic piece that gently moves with shifting light throughout the day and links the building’s levels. The Central Quad provides a dynamic environment that supports interdisciplinary learning and the evolving needs of students and staff.
