Grangegorman Playground
Overview
Grangegorman Playground, located near the Fingal Place pedestrian entrance into the Grangegorman site, is a community space designed for play for children between the ages of 0 to 12 years old. It features a variety of modern play equipment set on soft, child-friendly surfaces and sits adjacent to extensive sporting facilities, including grass pitches, synthetic playing fields, and multi-purpose courts.
Current status
The Grangegorman Playground will be temporarily closed from January 19th 2026 for approximately 8-12 weeks to facilitate the installation of an ability swing and resurfacing works. The precise timeline of these works is weather dependent. Please note that there will be vehicular traffic in this area to facilitate these works. Mount Bernard Park Playground
Mount Bernard Park Playground in Mount Bernard Park in Cabra Dublin 7. This park also has all-weather surface that can be used for basketball or soccer and three tennis courts. The park is approximately 2 minutes’ walk from Cabra Luas stop (green line), and a 25-minute walk, 8- minute cycle or 7min drive from the Grangegorman site.

Smithfield Play Park
Smithfield Play Park is located at the south end of Smithfield Square. This playground is less than 1 minutes’ walk from the Smithfield Luas stop (red line) and approximately a 18min walk / 7- minute cycle or 6 min drive from the Grangegorman site.

Montpelier Gardens Playpocket
Montpelier Gardens Playpocket is located on Infirmary Road, Dublin 7. This playground is natural play pocket park with climbing frames and green space. It is approximately a 25-minute walk, 6- minute cycle or a 5-minute drive from Grangegorman.

The Phoenix Park Playgrounds
The Phoenix Park Playground at the North Circular Road entrance (NCR) is currently partially open (junior section only) due to maintenance works.

The Playground at Phoenix Park Visitor Centre at Ashtown Castle remains open as normal during this time. This playground is approximately a 1 hour walk, 12min drive / 20-minute cycle from the Grangegorman site.
